Details: Zishta Black Pottery also known as Loree Hamlei, the local name for stone pottery of Manipur is a traditional cookware which is used for cooking by the local community even today. The clay used for this pottery is obtained by crushing and mixing two types of rocks that are locally found in & around Longpi region of Manipur, they are Serpentinite & Weather rocks. The final stage of the pottery involves rubbing them with a local leaf known as Mache leaf which renders the black colour to the pottery. Our range of products are hand-made by these traditional rural artisans who have been making them for generations. We travel through the country in search of such traditional knowledge residing with different communities and bring it back for you to experience it. Let us put Traditional Wisdom to Practise! Clay pots are made of clay, which is alkaline in nature. This property enables it to interact with the acids in the food while cooking, thus balancing its pH. Not only do they make the food healthier but also lend a nice aroma to it. The food cooked in clay kadi becomes rich in various minerals such as iron, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium etc. Clay Kadai: Size: Medium, Dia: 20.3cm(27.9cm with handles), Cap: 1.0L, Depth: 5.1cm, Weight: 1.2-1.4 Kg.
